ArchiTECH: All about Sound

ArchiTECH | Thursday 1 November 2012 at 9.00am

Good acoustic design is an invisible but extremely important phenomenon. As sound is experienced with the ears, not visually, good acoustics are a phenomenon that you often only notice when it's not there.

This ArchiTECH event, to be held on the morning of Thursday 1 November, will provide technical background and specification information related to acoustic design with speakers from Knauf Plasterboard and CMI Music & Audio.

Knauf Plasterboard – Mark Micallef: ‘Sound Absorption and Sound Insulation’

Knauf are world-leaders in the design and manufacture of products that enhance acoustic design. Knauf will introduce some practical methods for developing good acoustic design for ceiling and wall design in commercial buildings. Throughout the presentation, Knauf will explore the materials, layouts and design features that enhance acoustic design and will also explore some recent Melbourne case studies.

CMI Music & Audio – Simon Tait: ‘Sound Reinforcement, Intelligibility & Acoustics’

Adverse acoustics can be detrimental to the performance of Public Address systems. This session will outline how intelligible speech and music reinforcement can be achieved in large reverberant spaces such as churches, theatres, train stations and atriums with Duran Audio’s Intellivox steered loudspeaker arrays.

Please join us for this informative session, which is being provided at no cost to members (Non-members are also welcome - refer entry costs below).

This session is a formal CPD activity that will contribute 2 formal CPD points.

Coffee, tea and refreshments will be provided.
