nominations and Council is seeking examples of exceptional building design. The
Awards showcase the expertise of building designers and encourage high
standards of excellence in design within the municipality

the painter

The husband-and-wife team of Charles and Ray Eames
were America’s most influential industrial designers. Admired for their
creations and as individuals, they have risen to iconic status in American
culture. This free film at the State Library of Victoria draws on a treasure
trove of archival material, as well as new interviews with friends, colleagues
and experts

The 2013 CCAA Public Domain Awards are now open for
business, with submissions due by Friday 31 May. Now in their 17th year, these
prestigious biennial Awards celebrate Australia’s most innovative and exciting
applications of concrete in the public arena

C+A TALKS: Fumihiko Maki

Fumihiko Maki, one of the most recognised and
influential figures in modernist architecture, is coming to Melbourne for the
2013 C+A TALKS. The 1993 Pritzker Architecture Prize winner and Institute
Honorary Fellow will talk about his design philosophy, drawing on examples from
Maki and Associates’ internationally renowned portfolio – a portfolio that
includes Tower 4 of the World Trade Centre redevelopment in New York
The Human Scale

the Moving Image (ACMI) proudly presents The Human Scale as part of its Long
Play program. Inspired by Architect Jan Gehl and his human centric approach to
city planning, director Andreas Dalsgaard unpacks the polemic through case
studies from New York, Copenhagen, Christchurch, Dhaka and Melbourne

This 10-day Japan Architecture Tour will spend 6
nights in Tokyo and 4 nights Kyoto. The tour will visit some remarkable
contemporary buildings, historic temples and shrines, see great art and
architecture exhibitions, meet with Japanese architects, visit historic towns
and see the works of Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright.
